Discovering by Rail + Road (+ River)
We’ll start discovering mostly by taking the train (and driving in areas less connected). We will also trace our route along rivers in the area.
Culture + History (East-West Band)
- Start in Shaanxi and He’nan — home of up to five Ancient Capitals of China
- Continue further east to Shandong (home of Confucius), and by way of Lianyungang, to the rest of Jiangsu, Shanghai + Zhejiang
- Dive further west and northwest along the Ancient Silk Road to Gansu and Xinjiang to the border
- Head “on top of the world” — on the Qinghai-Tibet plateau
Borders + Sea (North-South)
- Trace your route along the Yellow River up north to Shanxi and Inner Mongolia to the northern border, as well as along the Yangtze
- Explore vibrant, up-and-coming cities in the centre, including Chengdu, Chongqing, Wuhan, and Changsha
- Dive deeper south to Guangxi and Guangdong, right by Hong Kong, Macau, as well as Vietnam
- End your journey on the tropical island of Hainan, in the far south of China
